Tourist Guide of Folegandros

Folegandros is the southernmost island of the western Cyclades. From Piraeus is 102 nautical miles away.
The approaches of passenger ships are done by the line of Naxos and Paros and by the line of the western Cyclades (Serifos, Folegandros, Milos).
The trip lasts from 8 to 10 hours, depending on how many intermediate stops the ship will make. With high-speed ships (dolphins) the trip takes around four hours.
During the summer months, Folegandros is connected to Piraeus with almost daily trips and also with the most of the Cycladic islands via local routes.
In recent years, Folegandros, as a holiday resort, has experienced significant growth, offering visitors many accommodations and amenities. A recommendation to visitors during July and August is the early booking of the accommodation.

Shrubs and thyme, steep cliffs and beautiful beaches are some of the features of the oblong island of Folegandros.

The capital, Chora, is ideal for romantic walks. It may be small in size but offers many attractions to visitors.
The churches of Eleousa, of Pantanassa, of Saint Sophia, Saint Nicholas, of the Archangel, Saint Catherine and of Anthony, of the Virgin Mary, the Kastro, the Palaiokastro and Chrysospilia are just some of the attractions the island offers to the Greek and to foreign visitors in order to admire and study.

Very beautiful beaches can be found in Agali, in Ano Meria and in Karavostassis.
If you are in Folegandros, do not forget to try the handmade pasta with rabbit or goat and the traditional cheese-pie (Kalatsouna).

The small community of Folegandros managed not only to maintain but to strengthen its ties with the past and with its immigrants. And that gives to Folegandros a unique colour. The visitors here are not strangers: most come and come again, and they are a part of the island, the "honorary" citizens!

The island has two sheltered bays: Karavostassis in the south-east, where the port is and the
ship arrives and where the private boats anchors, and the scenic Agali in the west, where vessels can anchor in the summer, while their passengers enjoy the sandy beach with the crystal clear waters and the taverns.

Karavostassis, a quiet and safe harbour, is the gateway to the island. With its hotels, restaurants and the beach bars, is ideal for those want a quiet holiday near to the sea. Apart from the small beaches near the port, from here you can take a boat to other beaches too.
