Fthiotida, Kamena Vourla

KAMENA VOURLA
Kamena Vourla is the most famous and fashionable resort in Greece.
Kamena Vourla with the two districts of Kenourgio and Regina are located in the region, where the Locrians were living, in ancient times, with capital the ancient city
of Thronio.

In Homer, Lokrians are reported as following: "Lokrians were governed by the fast Aias, son of Ileas, much smaller than the other son of Telamon. Although he was small and he was wearing Armor of flax, he was surpassing at the javelin all Greeks and Achaeans.
They lived in Kynos and Opountas and Kalliaro, in Vessa and Skarfia and in beautiful Avgies, in Tarfi and Thronio, which is close to the waters (streams) of Voagrios river. This Ajax was followed by forty black ships of Lokrians who lived opposite the sacred Evia".

Of the cities mentioned above by Homer, Kamena Vourla and Kenourgio are built near the ancient city of Thronio, and Regini is built on the place of the ancient Tarfis (Naryka): As in ancient times and so far today, the cities are located near the Voagrios River streams, which, from the 12th century until now, still retains its name.

The mild climate of the region is starting from the Easter holidays and so it allows all year long vacation for both sea lovers and for the avid mountain trippers.
