              |  This is the famous island of Corfu, endowed by nature with idyllic landscapes, enchanting coves, wide sandy beaches, pine forests, cypress. Archaeological sites, castles, monasteries, churches, museums, great architecture in the capital and traditional villages in the hinterland and the excellent tourist infrastructure have given to island a cosmopolitan character and have made it known throughout the world. 
 The Capital of Corfu is a beautiful city of the same name. The Palia Poli, has a Venetian structure, is built between two fortresses and has a romantic figure: pedestrian promenades, beautiful squares and neoclassical buildings, churches and historical monuments. The Nea Poli has a good layout and stretches back from the Palia Poli.
 
 
  What can you say about Corfu and the places that can you visit ... Orthodox and Catholic Churches, the building of the Jewish Synagogue, the Old Fort, the central public library, monuments, palaces, the Academy of Ionia, Ionia House, the new fort, the Vido, the site of the windmill, the park of Mon Repo, Kanoni, the monastery of Virgin Mary of Vlacherna, the Pontikonisi, the museum Antivouniotissa, a series of collections are briefly only some of the attractions of the town of Corfu with the famous Square of Liston. You can swim at Anemomilo, at Mon Repo and at Vido island.
 
 Saint  George of Argirades is a tourist resort where you can visit the Lagoudi, the  islets near Cape Konsta, the area of Issus with the cedar forest, dunes and  sandy beach and the lake Korission, a wetland with rich flora and fauna.
 From Saint George of Armenades - Pagon, with the sandy beach and the crystal  clear water, you can visit the village Afionas and also the villages Prinilas,  Argos and Kastellani and the Timoni bay.
 In Agios Gordios is located the Ortholithi, an impressive rock in the sea and  from Agio Mattheo, one of the most beautiful villages in the hinterland, you  can visit the Monastery of Pantocratora, the Prinodasos, the cave Grava and the  touristic villages Paramonas and Prasoudi.
 
 
  From  Agio Stefano of Avliotes you can visit the village Avliotes and the islands  Diaplo and Diakopo and from Alykes you can visit the villages Potamos and  Evropouli. Ano Pavliani and Kato Pavliani are beautiful villages with traditional colors  and view of the surrounding area and the Ano Garouna is one of the oldest  villages of the island.
 The route Ano Korakiana - Sokraki - Zigos will impress you if you visit the Ano  Korakiana which has a long tradition of choral music and musical ensembles.
 From the inland village Argirades you can visit the coastal villages Boukari  and Petriti and from the coastal tourist village Arillas you can visit the  islands Krabi and Varkoules.
 
 Acharavi  is a tourist resort spread on a flat area. From there you can visit the wetland  of lagoon Antinioti, the Spyridonisia and the traditional village of Perithia  and the village Episkepsi, one of the oldest on the island with the beautiful  houses.
 The picturesque village Gastouri is kept unaltered examples of traditional  architecture. There, is worth visiting the source of the Empress Elizabeth, the  distillery of Vassilakis and the villages Agioi Deka and Agios Procopios.
 The traditional tourist resort of Glifada is where you can visit the monastery  of Virgin Mary Mirtiotissa.
 Gouvia is a bustling tourist center where you can visit the Venetian Neoria and  the settlement Danillia.
 Dassia is a busy tourist center where you can find many hotels, beautiful  beaches that is suitable for swimming.
 
 Dafnila  and Kommeno are beautiful tourist areas in green with large hotels.
 The tourist resort of Ermones is where you can visit the grassland of Ropa with  beautiful extensive plains and crops and also the villages Giannades, Marmaro  and Kanakades.
 Full of youthful haunts is Kavos, a bustling tourist resort with an extensive  sandy beach. At Kavos, will impress you the Cape of Asprokavos with its  distinctive white rocks and from there you can visit the area Mikro Nisi, a  scenic bay with sandy beach and also you can visit the villages Neochori,  Paleochori and Kritika.
 Cassiopi is a cosmopolitan resort and port, where there are the regions of  Agios Stefanos, of Sinion and the bay Vourlia (Avlaki) and the islet Peristeri.
 With remarkable examples of architecture, Kato Garouna is a traditional village  and Lefkimmi has a considerable artistic tradition.
 
 
  Kontokali  and Mesogi are cosmopolitan tourist centers. A picturesque creek runs through  the Mesogi. From Mesogi worthwhile to visit the villages of Agios Dimitrios,  Chlomos and Chlomatiana. In Moraitika there are many hotels and on the hill  above Moraitika there is the birthplace of Ioannis Kapodistrias, the village of  Episcopiana. Benitses, Nisaki, Kalami, Perama, Perivoli, Pirgi, Roda, Sidari,  Ipsos are cosmopolitan tourist resorts of Corfu with unique beauties. 
 Paleokastritsa is a cosmopolitan resort, in an area of outstanding natural  beauty. From Paleokastritsa you can visit the villages Doukades, Liapades,  Lacones, Makrades, Krini. You can also visit the distillery of Mavromati where  you can taste products based on local drink of Corfu, kumquat, sweets, wine and  ouzo. In Perama you can visit the Chaliopoulou lagoon, while from the  Mediterranean Kefalochori Perivoli you can visit the picturesque village  Vitalades and the touristic village Gardenos.
 You can enjoy the sunset from the place Logan of village Peroulades.
 From the village Sinarades you can visit the Petrino Pigadi, the bay Gialiskari  and Aerostato, a location with magnificent view of Agios Gordios.
 The monastery of the Ipsilo Pantocratora, on the top of the homonymous  mountain, is located at the village Strinilas. Around Corfu is Vido, Diapontia  islands, Ereikoussa, Manthraki and Fanos.
 
 If  you visit Corfu buy kumquat - sweet and liqueur, ouzo, nougat, jams, pottery,  textiles and woodwork.
 Corfu is famous for these foods: pastitsada, sofrito, bourdeto, bianco and  savoro. In Corfu you can taste liver cooked in wine with sauce of fennel, wild  boar, ostrich, deer, rabbit stew and chewing gums.
