Elounda is located in the Prefecture of Lasithi of Crete, 10 km north of Agios Nikolaos village and south of the seaside village of Plaka.


On the south coast is the namesake bay, the bay of Elounda and within 1 km is the ancient city of Olounda, which gave its name to Elounda..
